Fintech Lending Journey

A multi-step lending journey redesigned to improve clarity, reduce friction, and support confident completion.

FintechSenior UI/UX Engineer

Challenge

A seven-step finance journey contained unclear decisions, repeated effort, and insufficient guidance. Because financial choices carry risk, the experience needed to balance completion efficiency with transparent information and user confidence.

My contribution

  • Reviewed the end-to-end journey and identified friction, ambiguity, and decision points.
  • Restructured steps, content hierarchy, validation, and progress communication.
  • Created user flows and prototypes to align product and engineering around the improved journey.
  • Applied accessible form patterns and clearer system feedback for important financial actions.

Approach

  • Give each step one clear purpose and show progress without overwhelming the user.
  • Explain requirements before users invest effort in data entry.
  • Place validation and recovery guidance close to the affected field or decision.
  • Use plain language and explicit confirmation for consequential actions.

Outcome themes

  • Simplified decision points
  • Clearer multi-step progression
  • Stronger trust and completion support

Reflection

In financial journeys, reducing friction does not mean removing necessary information. The better approach is to sequence information well, explain consequences clearly, and help users recover from errors without losing context.
